Incorrect Pension Start Date

We encountered the issue of incorrect pension start date for lot of our clients for the scenarion mentioned below and we have to manually correct this every time.

Setup : Employees are on weekly payroll and the payrun payment date is 1 day after the payroll period end date.

Following is the sequence of events that triggers incorrect pension start date :

1. Employee was added in Staffology with their date of joining as 31 Jan 2023 and is setup for pension automatic enrolment assessment.

2. On 6th Feb (payrun payment date), their first payroll for Week 45 (31Jan - 05 Feb) - was processed. Because of the lower number hours/lower pay, employee was not eligible for pensions and hence the payroll was processed fine without any issues.

3. On 13th Feb (payrun payment date), for the next payroll Week 46 (06Feb-12 Feb), the employee became eligible for pension based on their earnings for week 46 - after the

4. At this point/date (13 Feb), Staffology's auto-assessment found that the employee as eligible for pension.

5. During this auto enrolment process, Stafollogy used the date 13 Feb as the pension Start Date.

It should have used the date 06 Feb as the pension start as that is the payroll period during which the employee became eligible for pensions.

Hey Richard- The payment date in Staffology controls the PRP.

For example, if you had a monthly payroll which runs from the 1-30th April and pays on the 5th May, it would be the payment date that determines PRP. In this case the PRP would be 1-31st May.

This means that your start date would be at the start of the PRP, which would be May 1st.

Hopefully, this all makes sense. Any questions, please let me know!
