Reports not changing when department is changed

I have an employer who has found that the payroll analysis, spread across multiple periods, doesn't balance to the actual totals. Upon raising this with support, it would appear it's because some departments were changed. We should be able to rely on reports regardless of department changes, please can a fix for this be implemented?
