I had a client question why the payslip YTD figures were higher than the employees earnings, this was due to HMRC sending through tax code with YTD earnings from previous employment.
However on the payslip it just lumps it into one YTD gross & tax figure.
On some other payroll systems I have used there has been further line items to show the gross and taxable pay from 'This Employment', this helps distinguish how much the employee has earned in their current employment and what is their YTD including previous employments.
