Why do we have to "Re-Calculate" hourly rate and daily rate when changing salary?

Sometimes I have forgotten to click re-calculate when changing a salary and then ued the daily rate showing for a different calculation and it ended up being incorrect. Cannot it not be re-calculated automatically? Surely we want to remove the chance of manual error?
